3 Tips to Keep your Family Safe on July 4th
Wednesday, June 26th, 2019 by Sabrina Hunter
Independence day is a time to celebrate with family and friends at the beach or grilling at home, and splashing in the pool. It is important to think about safety first to avoid accidents or damages from ruining your plans.
Keep your family, guests, and your home safe while celebrating with these safety tips:
Always practice grill safety Place the grill on stable ground and keep it at least 10 feet away from furniture or structure. Check the hose lines on gas tanks for leaks. Clean your grill before use. Never leave a gas or charcoal grill unattended. Keep a bucket of sand, fire extinguisher or a box of baking soda nearby as a precaution for grease fires.
Maintain a safe pool Clean your pool and check the chemical levels in the water. Make sure the filtration and circulation systems are in working order. Point out the depth of the pool to all guests and enforce the safety rules, such as no running or diving. Designate someone to act as a lifeguard whenever the pool is in use. Never leave children unattended. Attend a class for CPR and first aid training.
Watch out for firework hazards Never light fireworks near garages, homes or trees that could easily catch fire. Never allow children to handle matches, lighters or play with sparklers and fireworks. Never relight a firework that failed to work. Always have an adult supervise children. Keep a fire extinguisher or a bucket of water close by in case of a malfunction or fire.
Everyone here at Weathertite Systems would like to wish you and your family a safe and fun 4th of July!
